What I mean is Government regulations, procedures, and etc.
Yesterday I had to report into the State Employment Office to meet with a counselor as I am on Emergency Extension. Now I thought this was going to be a review of efforts, suggestions for the future, verification of my job search history and so on. Instead it was a group class of people, I presume, in the same situation to view a power point slide, a brief review of the rules (later) and suggestions for enhancing the job search.
In each persons packet was their own profile (created by the individual) with job skills, education, and other items. Also was an "audit" sheet of the reported job search for the last two weeks. Mine had two comments; I did not report at least two new companies one week, and I was not reporting a search in my labor market. The counselor commented to everyone about two new jobs; 'if you are in a highly specialized career and only, say six companies have a job you do, then rotate them, two one week, two the next, and so on.' Gaming the system. I asked about the labor market as I have applied to many companies well outside the area as the positions applied for are "remote", or work from home. After she got her brain around that, she babbled some nonsense, which was so incoherent I can not remember them well enough to write them down, I presume I am just to always report them as being in my local area. Gaming the system.
There was some good information, some networking opportunities, a new website on job stats in the state which could be useful, and that by completing this 'workshop' we satisfied the Fed's requirement for continued emergency benefits.
Then I got home to a letter that stated I would not be getting benefits this week, at least until a question about my continued eligibility is cleared up. Another interaction with the government.
